Aging2.0 is a global network of innovators working in the 50+ market. We are creating an interdisciplinary, collaborative community of people from business, research, policy, design and technology, together with older adults themselves in order to advance innovation and improve the quality of life. 

Our events bring people together informally with drinks, snacks and good discussions. We are having our first meetup in Chicago on July 31st at TechNexus, a collaborative hub for Chicago’s tech community. We’re  partnering with InnovateLTC, with whom we’re a judge at the previous day’s Lincoln LINK event.

Asif Khan, Founder & CEO, Caremerge

Asif has over 20 years of experience in Technology. Most of his experience (over 12 years) has been with GE in leadership roles with increasing responsibilities at various GE businesses. Asif served about 8 years in various Senior and Global Product Marketing roles at GE Healthcare IT. During his tenure at GE, Asif worked as an entrepreneurial catalyst driving positive change across various businesses. Before leaving GE Healthcare in late 2010, Asif was responsible for a portfolio of healthcare products generating $140 million annually with over 3000 customers (Hospitals and large clinics) worldwide.

Asif holds a B.A. in Journalism & History and a B.Sc. in Computer Science. He earned his M.B.A. from Booth School of Business – University of Chicago.

Carl Hirschman, President, SilverFox Broadband

Mr. Hirschman is the Founder and President of SilverFox Broadband, a provider of TV, phone, and Internet access to senior housing communities nationwide.  SilverFox, headquartered in Chicago, IL, is one of the first and only companies to focus especially on providing Internet access to seniors nationally.

Prior to founding SilverFox Broadband, Mr. Hirschman helped co-found X-Wires Broadband.  X-Wires started out as a wireless ISP and morphed into a company that provided managed internet access for student housing properties nationwide, including several colleges’ on-campus residence halls.  In 2010 X-Wires was successfully sold to a strategic buyer. 

Mr. Hirschman then raised $21 million in private equity financing for the strategic purchase of two managed Internet companies, one in the hotel space and another in student housing.  In addition to SilverFox Broadband, Mr. Hirschman is a serial entrepreneur and is working on multiple high-technology software and app projects, both for the senior housing/healthcare space and for general public use.  Mr. Hirschman received a BBA in Economics from the University of Iowa.

Carmel Martin, Co-Founder, Cara Health

Carmel Martin, MBBS, PhD is an Australian medical graduate from the University of Queensland. She completed a Masters in Community Medicine at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London and a PhD at the Australian National University. She is an Associate Professor of Family Medicine at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine in Canada and Visiting at Trinity College Dublin. Cara Health is an IT-based system to support outbound calls to older patients at high risk of hospital admission. This start-up was supported by Healthbox and is now located in 1871, Chicago.
